Charlotte Church (and Gwen Stefani!)

Tonight I went to Charlotte Church's TV Show at the BBC. It was amazing to finally see my operatic idol live for so many hours, and also to see Gwen Stefani as a guest. Although it was great to finally see Charlotte Church, it was a great example of British inefficiencies. It seemed that she didn't really know what was going on for much of the show. We had to watch the theme song twice, the band McFly twice, and her repeat her lines multiple times (granted, she didn't always have the teleprompter). Overall, it was a great experience and I don't really have any complaints about watching these extremely talented people repeat their performances (for free!). My flatmate, Christine, and I were lucky to get the seats we did. We were in the first row and to the right in the regular seat section, which is directly across from where they had the guest interviews. The people running the show were a lot of fun, and kept us thoroughly entertained during breaks. It was also really interesting because topics on the show are very crude and controversial, not to mention all the swearing. F- this, F- that, the Queen's "bush", and Harry Potter's "magic wand with a lightning streak". (For those of you who don't understand the last comment, Daniel Radcliffe is naked in a freaky horse-sex-loving play called Equus.) They also sent one man's wife to Brazil without him knowing, and he found out on the show. Gwen Stefani looked more perfect than I have ever seen a human being. Every last detail of her look had been addressed, although I must say she looked rather frumpy. Christine preferred to call her "reserved"; perhaps she's getting older, especially considering she is married and has a baby. Anyway, a huge goal of mine has been achieved: I have seen Charlotte Church. It may not have been in the opera-singing fashion I had hoped, but perhaps it was best for me to see that she is not quite the little angel she once was...
